Conflict Resolution Lesson

Teachers Without Borders Peace Education Course – Blog #6 (11/12/2011)

This next week in my Peace Club, I am planning to facilitate the following lesson on Conflict Resolution:

Conflict StylesConflict Style Assessment

Objectives: Have students understand their most frequently used conflict styles and discuss each style.

Materials:  Conflict Style Assessment (http://www.creducation.org/resources/conflict_management/conflict_styles.html)

Overview:

First Step – Have students discuss and define the word “conflict.” Have students provide examples of conflicts that they face and how they deal with it.

Second Step – Distribute the Conflict Style Assessment and have each student complete it and determine their style.

Third Step – Have students reflect and discuss their style in small groups.

Fourth Step – Give students a sample conflict, and have the group brainstorm a way of dealing with the conflict based on the different styles.
